Williams Extends Ninian Park Stay

Darren Williams has extended his loan spell at Ninian Park by a further two months after Lennie Lawrence negotiated a deal with his club Sunderland. The right-back arrived at Ninian Park four weeks ago, and the addition of Williams to the backline has coincided with a dramatic improvement of form.

Sunderland defender Darren Williams has extended his loan period at Cardiff City following a successful four weeks at Ninian Park, which has seen the form of the South Walian outfit improve dramatically. Lennie Lawrence is a fond admirer of 27-year-old and has secured the services of the defender for a further two months ahead of Saturday's game at Millwall.

With Gary Croft suffering from a long-term injury and Rhys Weston showing a distinct lack of form, Williams has played an important role in the City line-up. His debut in the blue jersey came away at Wolverhampton, and since that date the Bluebirds have lost only one Football League outing.

Lawrence is thought to be very keen on making the move for Williams permanent, but the longest serving player on the Black Cats' books is not keen on leaving the Stadium of Light. However, since his arrival he has been ever present for the Bluebirds and looks a strong and dependable addition to the defence showing commitment with a touch tackling approach the backline lacked during the early season.
