Cardiff City have had a loan bid for Blackburn forward Paul Gallagher rejected. The 20-year-old Scotsman will stay at Ewood Park and fight for his first-team place.

Cardiff City have had a loan bid for Blackburn Rovers' Paul Gallagher rejected by former Wales boss Mark Hughes. The 20-year-old has just come back from injury, and Lennie Lawrence was interested in bringing the forward to Ninian Park with an injury-hit forward line struggling.

Paul Parry has been playing as a striker in recent weeks, and though he has impressed his ideal position is on the left flank. Alan Lee has been struggling for form, whilst Andy Campbell and Peter Thorne are both suffering from injuries. Lawrence has experimented with prospects Stuart Fleetwood and Cameron Jerome, but he is keeping a close eye on bringing an attacker in, ideally on loan.

However, City have been turned down by Blackburn with an approach for Gallagher. The Scotsman is said to be enjoying life under new boss Hughes and is confident the Lancastrian side can turn around their dismal start to the Premiership campaign. He hopes to get into first-team contention, and isn't interested in loan approaches from both the Bluebirds and Sunderland.

"After being injured, I played a couple of reserve games and scored a couple of goals, so I am high on confidence. I have had a couple of offers to go on loan - from Cardiff and Sunderland." said Gallagher.

“But Mark Hughes said he wants me to stay. He said I am part of his plans and hopefully, I can get a few games. I feel ready now and hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I will be able to get back in.
