The BBC have agreed to a new sponsorship deal which will keep the F.A.W Premier Cup going for at least another two years. As with last season, Cardiff have been awarded a bye to the quarter-final.

Cardiff City are the current holders of this fantastic trophy
The F.A.W Premier Cup will continue for at least another 2 years, as the BBC have agreed to a new deal.
As with last year, the winner of the competition will win an impressive £100,000.
Although many people see this competition as meaningless, and just an excuse to get Cardiff City, Wrexham and Swansea on BBC television, personally I think it’s great for Welsh football, giving the smaller clubs a chance to play the league clubs. Also, we have the added advantage of the possibility of a Cardiff v Swansea match!
It was great to see Cardiff win a trophy last season, especially after the bitterly disappointing Playoff defeat against Stoke City, and was a nice way to round up what had been a good season.
In this year's competition, Bangor City, Caersws, Rhyl, Cwmbran Town, Total Network Solutions, Connah’s Quay, Afan Lido and Dr.Martin’s League side, Newport County will make up the two groups. Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham and League of Wales Champions, Barry Town will all receive byes to the quarter-final and will face an away trip.
This is a similar system to last season, which is far more sensible than previous formats! Such as, when all four team qualified from the group stages in a previous year!
In its 5 year history, last season was the first time Cardiff have won the competition, but we have appeared in 3 finals.
Here’s a brief look at the tournament’s history:
