A brace from Peter Thorne and a late left-footed strike from Graham Kavanagh were more than enough for the Bluebirds to sweep aside relegation rivals Nottingham Forest at Ninian Park. Back-to-back victories and an unbeaten run now stretching to four matches as relieved pressure on Lennie Lawrence.

Cardiff two goal striker Peter Thorne said after the match "It was a massive game and we played very well but should have been ahead at half time. It has been a good holiday period for us with two wins and two draws but the players have never doubted their ability. If we keep putting on performances like that we will soon be in mid-table but there is a long way to go and we have to keep the run going."

 

The Nottingham Forest caretaker-manager Mick Harford was furious afterwards saying "The performance was a disgrace but that is my responsibility  - it was just a matter of time before Cardiff scored and after they did there was no way back - they put us under intense pressure from the start and we just couldn't handle it."

CCFC have now taken eight points from 12 and are slowly closing the gapon teams above, notably Coventry City who are now only two ahead of the Bluebirds.
