A replay on Wednesday 19th is Cardiff City's reward for holding Mark Hughes' Blackburn Rovers to a draw in a very competitive FA Cup tie at Ninian Park. Full report here... Attendance 14,145 CCFC Goalscorer - Alan Lee.

After recent improved performances in the league, Cardiff City took a break from Championship action and extended their unbeaten run to 5 with a well deserved draw against Blackburn Rovers at Ninian Park.

 

Mark Hughes fielded his first choice team making only one change from their previous match against Charlton Athletic. Cardiff started with Alan Lee upfront alonside Camerone Jerome. The game showed how well the Bluebirds have progressed in recent weeks and a draw was the very least they desrved. Blacburn went ahead early in the first half and many fans feared the worst, however it was Cardiff who struck back through an Alan Lee header and finished stronger in both the first and second halves.

 

Morten Gamst Pedersen opened the scoring in a rare start for him, with the enforced absence of Brett Emerton suffering from flu. Cardiff were torn apart with a David Thompson through ball. However with 10 minutes of the first half remaining Eire international Alan Lee headed in a Rhys Weston cross which bounced off the bar and went in off American goalkeeper Brad Friedel.  

 

Cardiff City were a match for Blackburn throughout the second half and were unlucky not to go ahead following efforts from on loan Junichi Inamoto and skipper Graham Kavanagh. In the 64th minute a second Blackburn goal was ruled out for a push on Tony Warner.

 

The travelling Blackburn contingent seemed well content with the draw and a replay back in Lancashire on Wednesday week.
