Bluebirds legend and ex-England youth internatioal Ronnie Bird has passed away at the age of 63 following illness. He will be sadly missed by Cardiff supporters having enjoyed an active role in the club since his retirement from association football.
Cardiff City supporters have been mourning the death of a club legend as the Bluebirds stare the Football League Championship danger zone in the face.
Winger Ronnie Bird has died at the age of 63 following illness. The England Youth international also played for Bradford Park Avenue, Bury and Crewe, but has been heavily involved with Cardiff City since retiring from the professional game and has also coached at Newport County.
In a five-year stint between 1966 and 1971, Bird scored 24 goals in 107 Football League appearances with the City, and his performances are well remembered by fans from the terraces of this era.
Bird has worked in a permanent role on Cardiff City’s hospitability staff and has also commentated on away games in recent seasons. He will be sadly missed by all fans and are thoughts are with his family.
