Cardiff City sign Leeds United striker ( on loan )

Despite all the news rumours coming out of Ninian Park at the end of the month there wasn't too much to get excited about on the transfer front. However the Bluebirds did sign a new striker and off load one....

Cardiff City manager David Jones has signed Michael Ricketts from Championship rivals Leeds United on loan until January 2006.

Ricketts becomes one of a small band of England internationals to have played for the Bluebirds as the 26 year old has 1 full England cap. In a career that has seen him move around the north of England he played most famously for Bolton Wanderers scoring 37 goals in 63 league matches.

A big money move to Middlesbrough followed but whilst at the Riverside he only started a dozen league games. 

A free transfer to Leeds United followed together with a loan spell at Stoke City. Hopefully the move to South Wales will spark a revival in the big man's career!

Meanwhile play off hero Andy Campbell is loaned to Oxford Utd until January. Campbell's lack of confidence has cost him dear since the famous goal in the play off final.

Richard Langley has returned to Loftus Road to rejoin Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed nominal transfer fee.

The two Northern Ireland internationals Jeff Whitely and Phil Mulryne were sent home for a breach of discipline, let's hope they are focussed on the next Cardiff game...
