Update post Carling Cup and pre Blades....

Let's face facts, the game on Wednesday night proved a few home truths about Cardiff City and the position we are in. We've punched above our weight for much of the season but failed to progress into the last 16 because we couldn't score....

It was great to see both teams fielding strong sides, but disappointing that even with prices slashed to the bone only 8,000 could be bothered to turn up. I sometimes wonder what the heck the 40,000 armchair fans from the Mill Stad play off game think they are playing at.

New stadium? It'll be two thirds empty by the end of the first season!

But back to the game on Weds before thoughtsahead of Saturday's trip to meet up with Neil Warnock.

Standing in the Grange - thanks CCFC for not allowing this Ambassador once again to stand where he wants to - the Uruguyan who was stood next to me predicted that we wouldn't score. He was right! The visitors reserve keeper made some outstanding saves but it was Leicester who wanted the win more, and you always felt the game was going to be tough right from the kick off. The better football for most of the game was playeed by the foxes and hopefully the defeat will not have done too much to the bluebirds confidence.

On a similar note with average crowds getting worse not better, how nuch longer have we got to put up with the local media saying we are looking at the Premier League or looking to get to the League Cup final - it's not surprising fans are disappointed. Expectations need to be managed otherwise we will under achieve in many people's eyes.

A tough trip to Yorkshire awaits to play the Blades who turned out a reserve side on Tuesday, showing complete disregard for the Carling Cup. Let's hope it backfires on them but at the moment I'd be delighted with a point....
