Now Frank looks set to be the next person to follow the pied piper of Russia to Stamford Bridge and dance to the tune of the wallet, where the hell does that leave us, another season of an unsteady ship ? We, as a club, have found that we have progressed, the squad has improved..
Now Frank looks set to be the next person to follow the pied piper of Russia to Stamford Bridge and dance to the tune of the wallet, where the hell does that leave us, another season of an unsteady ship ? We, as a club, have found that we have progressed, the squad has improved, youth development setup has been changed and things really started to move on.
Yet another blow to a club which has had the last 10 years as ‘transitional’ periods, this is a blow on a very large scale.
Before we get into the ‘what now’ debate the person(s) I feel very sorry for is Daniel Levy and the board. They have made some fantastic yet hard decisions this last few seasons, and this would of come to an enormous blow to them as well as the fans and players. Jol will have to make a career choice, will he be given the Managers job in the old school fashion which will leave him with a challenge or does this kind of smash the idea of having a Sporting Director at WHL, does he want to work in a setup where he is the boss from top to bottom. Who knows, only time will tell and I’m sure by the time Spurs have taken legal advice we will know, but none the less the Board have to be swift with some positive statements to show the club are doing everything they to limit damage to the movement of the club.
Other Sporting Directors on the continent could be attracted to us, and we could find one to fill Franks boots, but this will be a long and drawn out process something we cant knee jerk to as that has got us into problems before. Who the hell can replace the man who was the most respected man in Europe in terms of talent spotting, well in fact who had heard of Wenger before he took over up the road, he had managed to find some great players for next to no fee and so replacement of Frank isn’t impossible, as there are DoF and managers who can spot a good player, we have lost that and it need to be fixed fast. Maybe Jol should be given total control and given the chance show us what he can do, one thing for sure Jol has been on a fantastic journey from when he came to the club from Assistant Manager to Manager. So while this is a very bad situation we may have some short term cover. Lets just hope that this doesn’t effect the transfers we started to move on for the close season.
So what can be done about Chelsea Football Club, this is the second illegal approach that they have made in a short pace of time ( and what we know of ) and they are making a mockery of the FA rules and the fines they are given. If money is allowed to rule like this and contracts ignored then we might as well pack up watching football now as the game will die. I’m sure we are all fed up with the careless way and disrespectful treatment Chelsea have for other clubs within the league. As fans of Tottenham Football Club and fans of the beautiful game, maybe we should start to protest at this sort of destroying attitude of Money is king. There were plenty of clubs knocking back Chelsea advances and this would appear to be the only way they can get their man, but putting agents / players / staff silly offers on the table without talking to the club of which is the holder of the contract.
For me this is an error in professional judgement for Frank, but also another demonstration of Chelsea’s total disregard for who they destroy in their endless rampage for purchased glory. I hope that the FA report them to higher powers if they are guilty of course. Q10 rules have been broken !!! The Premier League, however, are yet to receive a complaint from Spurs officials about the alleged approach to Arnesen.
"We have not received an official complaint," said Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson. "We await to see the action Tottenham wish to pursue."
Lets just regroup and get behind the Board and the Club, at least show we fans are loyal.
