Welsh Cup holders, Bangor City comfortably progressed into the Welsh Cup Semi-Finals with a 5-0 victory at Airbus UK Broughton, where Les Davies contributed a second half brace. Nev Powell's side now look favourites for their second succesive Final after drawing Welsh League side Bridgend Town, who beat Newport YMCA 1-0 in Saturday's Quarter Final at Treforest, in the Semis that are due to be played on Easter weekend.

Aberystwyth won their Quarter Final against Prestatyn Town at Park Avenue almost as comfortably as the holders. The visitors took the lead in the fifth minute, but Geoff Kellaway cancelled that out for The Seasiders after 27 minutes and Chris Venables gave them the lead in first half stoppage time. A second half Hat Trick for Graham Evans settled matters for Brian Coynes outfit, to win them a Semi Final tie against Carmarthen Town in front of the S4C cameras on Easter Sunday. (The game was shadowed by Prestatyn keeper Jon Dunt requiring hospital treatment at half time n was replaced by outfield player Andy Davies)

Carmarthen Manager, Deryn Brace was the star of the show at Richmond Park, coming on as a second half substitute for injured keeper Neil Thomas and saving three penalties in the shoot out when the match finished 1-1 after extra time. It was goalless at the end of normal time, but Martin Rose gave Port Talbot the lead on112 minutes. The visitors looked likely to hang on, but Paul Fowler's deflected shot four minutes before the end took the game to penalties, with Carmarthen emerging 4-1 winners thanks to Brace's heroics.


In the two League games played on Saturday, Rhyl consolidated their position at the top of the table with a 4-0 home victory over Caernarfon at Belle Vue, adding to The Canaries woes at the foot of the table.

These were further exacerbated, by relegation rivals Neath who enjoyed a good 3-0 victory over Porthmadog at The Gnoll taking them clear of the relegation places.

In Friday evenings only game, The New Saints got a welcome 2-0 win at Gap Connahs Quay.
