Druids' New Stadium Gets Green Light

NEWI Cefn Druids are tonight celebrating the news that their plans for a new, UEFA Category 1 compliant stadium have been approved by Wrexham County Borough Council.
Wrexham County Borough Council have approved NEWI Cefn Druid's plans to build a new stadium at The Rock in Rhosymedre.
The move will see Tesco build a store at the club's exisiting Plaskynaston Lane site with the Welsh Premier team receiving a UEFA Category 1 compliant stadium in return, which will boast a 3000 capacity, 500 seater stand, covered terracing and a new social club.
Work should begin in May and be completed by Christmas, meaning the Ancients will have a stadium that meets the stricter ground criteria when the Welsh Premier is reduced to a 'super 10' league the season after next.

Certainly is great news, we just need to make sure we stay up this season now. Hopefully the 'feel good' factor will boost us in our fight for survival.
When you consider how long it's took for any progress to be made with a new ground for Bangor or new stadiums for Nomads or Welshpool (remember that?!) it makes the 2 years we've spent organising it seem a drop in the ocean!

Yeah, i'm an architect so i know how long these things take to get off the ground. Especially where the local authority is involved.
Welshpool were hoping for the council to pay for theirs so I think it was a pipe dream.
