Football fans - a breed of their own.

After another disappointing night for both clubs, do we get our moneys worth from the players, that we pay hard earned cash to see week in week out.

Consider for a moment the cost of football............

done?

Well, ignoring the monetary side of things for a second, consider the human cost of football. Tonight was another shining example of how football fans put themselves through all sorts in the name of love.

Throughout those 90 minutes I can say with some certainty that I experienced love, hate, boredom, anxiety, stress, enjoyment and excitement (briefly) and sheer frustration. Now that's a lot of emotion to put oneself through in just an hour and a half (oh - and nauseousness if including the half time pie). And they say moving house is stressful???? Give me cardboard boxes to pack and an arrogant self righteous know-all mortgage advisor any day!

I wonder if footballers themselves go through anything similar?

Anyways...it got me thinking. Wolves and Albion. Two teams separated by.....well goal difference. Who'd have though it aye? Albion with their Premiership stars and Wolves with what was left of a squad largely offloaded by Hoddle and "developed" slightly by the mind of McCarthy and a few rising youth team players.

I'm pretty sure anybody with an ounce (am I allowed to say that now we are part of Europe?!) of honesty inside them would not have expected that one. Certainly most of the Albion fans I know were expecting to be top of the table by now, or at least close. And many Wolves fans expected a middle table battle at best (It appears we got that right - ish)
So why do we put ourselves through it?? Pride and loyalty.

Incidentally it appears that the price of loyalty at Wolverhampton Wanderers is £10. With tonight's attendance 10,000 down on Fridays I think I can safely say Moxey that your efforts to get the fans back lasted a mere 90 minutes....shame my frustration will last a darn sight longer.
