November blues for Nigel Adkins?

When West Bromwich Albion take on Southampton tomorrow evening at the Hawthorns they could easily play their part in answering the inevitable question - Who will be the first Premier League boss for the chop this season?  November is notoriously an anxious month for managers in the top flight, as the season enters its fourth month and nears the midway point.

It is the time of year when Chairmen address the league table, reflect on progress and performance and weigh up the potential costs of the January transfer window and dare we say it - impending relegation.

Nigel Adkins will certainly be one of those managers feeling the pressure as his side travel to the Midlands to take on West Bromwich Albion.  His side currently sit in 19th position, with just one win all season.  His side are spared from the foot of the table only by QPR - whose gaffer Mark Hughes is currentlly the bookies favourite to face the chop first.  But QPR, who still search for that first illusive victory of the season, could be ahead of Southampton in the table by this evening should they find that win against Reading this afternoon.

Three points for QPR today would certainly mount extra pressure on Nigel Adkins, who could find himself in the firing line should his side fail to leave the Hawthorns without a win - and the odds are not in his favour.  Southampton have not beaten West Brom at the Hawthorns in their last six visits.
