Megson and Peace Set Out Objectives

They Mean Business

Gary Megson and Jeremy Peace held talks this week to outline the plans for the forthcoming season at The Hawthorns. Described by some as 'crisis talks' both parties say nothing is further from the truth.

Baggies Boss Gary Megson returned from his summer holidays to go straight into discussions with Chairman Jeremy Peace to outline the clubs strategy for the forthcoming season. Fans feared the worst as memories of last summer and the back room shenanigans that blighted the clubs return to the top flight were mentioned in certain national papers, but Peace denied any such actions.

The Birmingham Evening Mail reporter, Bill Howell, wrote in Friday's edition, that both sides have reached an agreement on where the club need to be heading this season and that despite rumours to the contrary there was nothing for Baggies fans to fear with these talks. It appears that Megson and Peace sit down on a monthly basis and have similar meetings.

The signing of certain players and a number of Megson's target players formed the mainstay of the talks, with Peace being pleased with progress made. Artim Sakiri, the Macedonian international and long time target of Megson, from CSKA Sofia could be the first new arrival at The Hawthorns.

Peace has been on record as saying that Albion's success is dependant upon the club having a united purpose this season. He is quoted in the Evening Mail story as having said

"The common goal is to get this club back in the Premiership and to do that we have to make sure everyone is focused. We all know it is an extremely difficult task to gain promotion but as long as everyone is focused on the job in hand we are giving ourselves every chance of achieving our aims."
