Carlisle United v. Leigh RMI preview

Without Carlisle United’s Brunton Park stadium out of action following the recent flooding in the city, RMI travel north of the border to the unlikely venue of Gretna’s Raydale Park home tomorrow afternoon to face the high-flying Cumbrians.

RMI boss Geoff Lutley is boosted ahead of the daunting trip with the loan signing of Bury defender Milton Turner, with the 18 year old set to make his debut alongside Chris Lane, Andy Roscoe and fellow loan signing Phil Doughty as part of an RMI back four that will be looking to do considerably better than when the sides last met, with Carlisle and their huge travelling army leaving Hilton Park delighted after a 6-1 walk in the park.

Lutley is also likely to finally complete the signing of former Barnsley and England Youth international strikerAshley Scothern, a week later than planned following complications concerning his contractual situation with current club Bradford Park Avenue.

Exciting striker Gary Williams could be in line for a return to the side after missing last Saturday’s disappointing 2-1 home defeat to lower-league Altrincham in the FA Trophy because of an injury picked up in the humiliating 5-1 Lancashire Trophy defeat at home to Southport on January 11th, while former Scarborough striker Karl Rose could return to the RMI squad surprisingly early following long overdue ankle surgery.

Carlisle welcome back striker Glenn Murray after he was cup-tied for last weekend’s FA Trophy win against Redditch at Workington, while Danny Livesey plays the final game of his one-month loan spell from Bolton, though Kevin Henderson and Brian Shelley are still out with knee and toe injuries respectively.
