What does being a football referee mean to you?  Butterflies in the stomach as I wait for kick-off, edged with excitement at participating in football at a level far higher than I could ever have reached as a player,matches to remember and some I try to forget and something new in every game

Why did you become a referee?  A broken leg at 15 years old hindered my already very limited playing ability and I realised refereeing could supplement my student grant while I went through University at the same time as keeping me fit

Any pet hates in football?  Players feigning injury in an effort to get fellow pros into trouble.
Coaches who have 20/20 vision of opponents’ misdemeanours and blurred vision when it comes to their own players

What Law of the Game would you change?  The dimensions of the field and goals should be increased since players now are much quicker and athletic than in Donald McVicar’s time.

The most difficult Law to apply?  All equally difficult when everyone in the crowd disagrees with you!

Other sports or hobbies?  Golf, travel and After-dinner Speaking

Your main strength?  I like to think I try to see everyone’s point of view

What's in your car CD player?  U2, The Killers, Nora Jones, Moby, Oasis and The Jam

Favourite film?  Once Upon a Time in America

Luck or judgement?  Judgement though in golf I rely quite heavily on luck

Dress up or dress down?  Women should dress up,guys should dress down

Any advice for young referees?  Don’t read newspaper reports on your games and remember there’s more to life than refereeing football matches

Kenny Clark took control of three of our games last season, he saw us out of the Challenge cup in a 1 - 1 draw and penalties against Dundee. He then saw us record our biggest ever win 7 - 0 against Dundee, I think most of us will remember that game. Finally he took control of a 3 - 1 defeat to Clyde a game that saw Kevin Barkey red carded
