Upferthecup's Elgin Quiz

This week see's Airdrie take on Elgin City in the 1st round of the C.I.S cup, as one of the newer members of the S.F.L there is very little history between the two clubs, but as always I have managed to come up with a few facts and figures( or drivel as some people like to call it! ) to keep you entertained on the Stomp.

OUR OPPONENTS

Elgin City were formed in 1893 and soon after joined the Highland league in season 1895-96 a league which they went on to win on fifteen occasions the last such feat coming in season 1992-93. They were elected to the S.F.L in 2000 along with fellow north men Peterhead to bring the tally of Highland sides in the senior ranks to four. They achieved a very respectable Scottish cup quarter -final in 1967-68 losing out 2-1 to Morton, however their two previous attempts on the league cup have ended in first round defeats 3-0 to Cowdenbeath and 3-2 to Stranraer so lets hope they have to wait at least another year before they get their first league cup victory.
