Airdrie 3-1 Cowdenbeath

Airdrie recovered from conceding an early goal to take three points following the visit by Cowdenbeath.

Stephen McConalogue slotted the ball into an open goal following good work by David Armstrong after three minutes. The diamonds had a chance to grab an equalizer soon after but Waddell failed to get to the ball after Hay spilled Allan Russell’s effort. Airdrie did get there equalizer after 18 minutes when Stephen McDougall fired a shot goal wards after a good passage of play saw McDonald put him clear, the ball deflected off Hill on it’s way into the net and one for the dubious goals panel to decide upon. Stuart Noble headed Airdrie ahead after 36 minutes from Russell’s excellent cross to send the Diamonds in at half time with a deserved 2-1 lead.

Airdrie started the second half the way they finished the first. Stuart Noble struck the post in a second half onslaught and Paul Lovering went close with a 30-yard drive that Hay tipped over the bar. 11 minutes from time Allan Russell forced the third goal home after the ball broke to him from Ricky Waddell’s corner. Lovering again went close with another long-range effort that went narrowly wide.
