Skye 0-6 AS Airdrie
Airdrie got off to a fine start after ten minutes play with Neil Pardoe picking up a slack clearance on the edge of the Skye box before curling a right footed shot into the top corner. Airdrie created plenty of good passages of play but lacked a final ball at times in the first half with the home side closing down and pressing the ball to good effect, Brady with a dipping volley just past the post the nearest Airdrie came to adding to the tally in the first half.
Second half saw a big improvement of converting the play into goals, Firstly on 55 mins Adams collected the ball deep in the Skye half before beating his man and squaring for Lindsay who had time and space to drill home the second from 16 yards. Minutes later Gray blocked an attempted clearance that allowed Pardoe to steal in and square the ball for Brady to poke past the keeper in the 6 yard box. On 65 minutes Airdrie made it four from Pardoe’s deep free kick on the right Lindsay headed back across the face where Adams was quickest to react and stab the ball past the defender and keeper from 2 yards out. Five minutes later Gray got in on the scoring all through his own hard work, Closing down the home defence he charged down the keepers kick and got the wee break of the ball in the box and found his bearings to tap home into the empty net. The scoring was wrapped up with 12 minutes to go as Adams collected on the left channel and held play up brilliantly before picking Smith out who cracked a 25 yard effort high into the Skye net. A thorough performance where Skye worked very hard for 60 minutes before tailing off. Airdrie a little guilty of overplaying at times but got it together to get the result without too much trouble. Both forwards worked there socks off but Adams gets the nod ahead of Gray for MOM a goal and two assists a good return for a nights work.
