Bridge of Earn 0-3 AS Airdrie

Airdrie moved in to the 4th round of the Scottish Amateur Cup with a 3-0 away success in Perthshire,  Missing were Clark,Capaldi & Hetherington with K.Pardoe & Morrison still out injured Airdrie sent out an unchanged side after last weeks win in the league.

Airdrie got off to a great start, in the first minute Lindsay played shaw in down the left and as he drove into the box the defence tried to crowd him out but he got a lucky break and was able to storke home the opening goal. it was almost 2-0 5 minutes later when Brady latched onto a loose ball and lifted it over the keeper however a defender managed to get back and clear it off the line. Shortly after Neil Pardoe saw his netbound effort touched over the bar by the home keeper and Gray was next to be frustrated as he won the race at a slack pass and poked the ball past the keeper only to trundle inches past the post.Gray and Brady had further shots blocked as Airdrie domintaed play. Lindsay had an effort blocked from a free kick inside the area given for a clear passback. Smith was next uop to try his luck as he just about got on the end of a crossball but could only direct it wide of the goal. Airdrie finally got a second on 40 minutes when Shaw and Adams worked a 1-2 and Shaw's shot was deflected in of a defender for a 2-0 Half time lead.

More of the same followed in the second half as Airdrie had all the possesion, Lindsay Gray Adams, Shaw all had shots blocked or just off target as the home side clung on. Lindsay did have the ball in the net only for the referee to judge Adams was hindering the keepers view in an offside position, the players thought otherwise. Ross Graham went close as Airdrie broke from a rare bridge corner and Graham found himself at the edge of the box, he showed his tekkers by contolling the ball on the chest before firing a volley just over. The game was finally killed off in the 85th minute as pressure finally paid off, Ross Grahm rolled a ball across the edge of the area and Lindsay left it for Smith who cracked a shot into the top corner for 3-0.

A game we controlled from start to finish and could have been a rout if truth be told, a win is a win though especially in the cup where the result is all that matters and we look forward to the 4th round draw and see what that brings us. Victoria Park at home on league business this coming saturday before the west cup tie on the 20th so lots to play for this month as we look to keep going strong in all competitions.
