Airdrie -V- East Fife Preview 19-03-04

Our first home game in four games sees us competing against East Fife who are sitting in eighth place in the Bells Scottish 2nd Division but still they are only fourteen points behind us.

With the one each draw at Berwick on Tuesday, we find ourselves still only three points ahead of third placed Hamilton. A win on Tuesday would have given us a decent cushion for our charge to the first division.

Sandy has no new injury worries in the team and that means that Alan Gow is still doubtful and Scott Wilson has been ruled out again with a knee injury. Otherwise there doesn't look there will be any changes to the squad. Mark Roberts seems to be the centre of the fans attentions at the moment as many find that his lack of effort has really begin to hurt our attacking balance. Is this the same player who almost helped us win the first division title two years ago?

Possible Line Up

Mark McGeown
Kevin Christie, Alan McManus, Neil McGowan, Paul Lovering
Jerome Vareille, Stephen Docherty, David Dunn, Willie McLaren
Owen Coyle, Alan Gow

Jim Moffat, East Fifes manager admits that is team do not have a chance of winning this division but he has also proved that his team don't really have that much to fear from us, taking four of a possible nine points from us. East Fife were beaten by an in form Dumbarton last week at home 3-1. Moffat doesn't think that there will be many changes in his squad as Les Byle and Paul Mortimer are back to full fitness.

There are only four points between East Fife and a relegation spot so every point counts for them.

Refs Review

Thanks To Allstar #9 who posted information on the site with regards our next official, I thought I would add another section to this report.

Brian Winter: Has Never refereed a game for us this season, but last season he was in charge of our game against Cowdenbeath. In that game we won 2-1 and we had Marvyn Wilson booked and sent of Cowdens Andrew Campbell. During this season Brian has been part of 14 games and has produced 43 Yellow cards and 5 reds.

Prediction:

Can't see East Fife beating us especially has we haven't lost in 13 games and they have not won in 8. Airdrie 2-V-0 East Fife
