Sandy takes the team in to this game knowing that it is a tough start to the season but is relishing the challenge that the season will bring.
Team Captain Stephen Docherty is still out but hopes to be fit for the beginning of the league season. There is no news as yet about the head injury sustained by Willie McLaren or how long he will be unable to play for. and the news gets better from here..
With the speculation that Alan Gow is to drop two divisions it still amazes me how so many people read what is in the news papers and jump on the band wagon, So far Airdrie United have been fantastic to the Stomp and have given us a lot of first hand information and I'm sure that once the Alan Gow situation, if there is a situation, is resolved the Airdrie fans will be the first to know. If that's not enough then as the Evening times says Alan Gow is still an Airdrie player. So tomorrow make sure he knows he's is appreciated.
On other news Martin Hardie has signed a 2 year full time contract with the club, with estimates that he will be unable to play until the end of August it's great that Marvin Wilson and David Dunn have played well in pre-season.
Kevin Barkey has also signed up on a 1 year full time contract those who were at the Gretna and Hearts game will remember him as the young sub who came in to mid-field and impressed holding on to the ball and passing well. Another young starlet on the way and if he doesn't get a game in the centre of mid-field he plays just as well on the right hand side.

Queen of the South come to us with at least two of their first team players remaining at home.
Eric Paton is out due to a hip injury and Paul Hilland is out due to a serious illness in his family.
The other problem for the Doonhamers is the fitness of Emilio Jaconelli, who has been out for a fortnight with a thigh strain. Jaconelli was picked up on a free from the Kilmarnock youth set up. |

Only five red cards in one season for Mike McCurry and guess what one of them was against us. We only saw Mike McCurry in two games last season the first a memorable one against Clyde, we lost 2-1 and David Dunn was sent off. The second game was at home against Morton and I can't remember the score in that game. Marvin Wilson recieved a yellow card in that game. |
