Airdrie fans view of Raith Rovers vs Airdrie

This week the Diamonds travelled to the kingdom of Fife where men are men and most of the woman are too to take on Raith who on the evidence of this encounter looked to have accepted relegation even though we are only at the halfway stage in this seasons campaign.

Even though the opposition were poor we found it difficult to break down the Fifers In fact the first half action was as dreary and uninteresting as the view from the north stand looking across the battleship grey of the Firth of Forth.

After the break the Diamonds found a new belief  and it seemed that it would be only a matter of time before we would grab the opener but we had to wait until the 69^th minute to witness the best piece of individual skill no it wasn’t Hardie’s superb opening goal but his celebration after it when he ran behind the goal and leaped up onto the wall to celebrate with the Airdrie support. How he managed to stay upright on the concrete in those studs I’ll never know.

It was pretty much one-way traffic from then on in and in the dying minutes of the match we sealed the victory with a rare goal from Marvellous Marvyn after a fine run and blocked shot from Jerome.

In reflection this was a victory in which we were rarely troubled and on another day we could easily have scored five.

I do have a little sympathy for the Raith fans as it looks as if they will have to take a step back to the second division to move forward and recover from the shambles left behind by Claud le Fraud.

Red Diamond

A well deserved victory for us today especially on our second half display. Man of the match for me was Big Mad Mental Hardie. It has to be said that Raith looked like a team who have all ready accepted relegation this season they were very poor you should have seen the performance of the Raith number 4 , not sure of his name, he was terrible. I do have some sympathy for Raith the situation they now find themselves in is all down to that con artist Anelka.
It looks as if they will have to take step back to Div 2 to go forward and restructure their team.
