Marvyn Wilson played for Airdrieonians with distinction for most of the 90's before leaving for A*r Un*t*d in 1999 as the financial crisis at the Excelsior bit deep.

Marvyn is a local lad who signed for Alex MacDonald as a teenager in 1992 from Hearts where he'd been youth team captain. Marvellous Marvyn made his debut in 1993 and was an almost permanent fixture till his 1999 move. His career with the Diamonds has been filled with many memorable displays which personified his tigerish midfield displays. Most notably in the 1998 League Cup he scored the winning goals against Premier League Celtic and Kilmarnock in consecutive rounds in Doddie's last hurrah in Airdrie. I doubt if there is an Airdrie fan who won't welcome him back with open arms!
