William (Liam) McVey

Liam McVey has signed for Airdrie United on a Bosman as he was one of the former Clydebank players. McVey is a rampaging wing back who has already made quite an impression on the Airdrie support.

Liam McVey comes into Sandy Stewart's squad as his first choice left wing back. McVey joined Clydebank in December 2000 from Partick as a 17 year old having failed to make a breakthrough at Firhill. Recently he jostled with former international Rob McKinnon for his jersey at Clydebank, and will relish the chance to establish himself, at the grand old age of 20, at Airdrie.

For me Liam looks a great player, I was a big fan of Austin McCann but I think Liam shades a little in terms of getting forward more when he can. He also looks good at the passes anywhere on the pitch. Alex Mullen.
