Gerrard: Why I signed.

Tuesday 20th July 2004

Nottingham Forest's new keeper Paul Gerrard, whom the signing of has recently prompted Leeds United to make a bid for Darren Ward, has today spoken to TEAMtalk about how he believes Forest are going places and that Joe Kinnear's signings are the reason he joined the Reds:

He said: "Ipswich had come in for me during the summer, but they were miles away from my home and family in Manchester and then the Leeds offer also came into play.

"But I spent two months on loan here at the end of last season and had a good time, getting on well with the staff and players. What clinched it was that at the end of last season the manager said he was going to add to the squad and, while the other clubs were selling, Joe has invested."

It appears that Gerrard has been impressed by the players Kinnear has been bringing in and hopefully they will live up to the standards that you are expected to reach when you pull on the famous Garbaldi.
