Steve Tilson turns down Ipswich

Southend United manager Steve Tilson has today turned down an offer from Championship side Ipswich Town over the vacant managers position at Portman Road. Ipswich were in talks with Tilson over the vacant postion but the offer was turned down

With Tilson wanting to carry on with the hard work he has allready put in to turn Southend into a Championship outfit for next season.

As well as that Steve Tilson and assistant manager Paul Brush have both been offered contract extensions by Southend owner Ron Martin which would keep the duo at Roots Hall until the end of the 2009/2010 campaign.

With two years still to run on there current contracts and Ron Martin is set to invoke a clause in the contract which will see it run for a further two years.

Ron Martin has told the official website "We want to keep Steve and Paul here for four years. We want continuity at this club and we know that Paul wants the same."

As well as that Ron Martin has also issued a hands of warning to any club wishing to provoke the management pair away from the hall.
