Too good to go down....?

When I was 13 years of age at the end of rhe 1973-74 season Manchester United were relegated after a couple of torrid seasons but only six years after lifting the European Cup and seven years since their last league title. The club had lurched from pillar to post since the retirement of Sir Matt and the drop to the second division was somehow inevitable. The parallels between then and now are being documented across the internet but suffice to say despite winning the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League since Sir Alex's retirement the club have declined in the league and the current season is shaping up poorly. Liverpool and Manchester City are looking infinitely stronger than us at the moment.
The bright start and the thumping win over Chelsea on the opening weekend now seem a million miles away. The performace at St James' park in the 1-0 defeat to a poor Newcastle side highlighted the need for things to change and change quickly. The international break could not have come at a better time for once!!pqs: qs:
