Olympique Marseille boss Christophe Bouchet has disclosed that he is desperate to keep Manchester United's out-of-favour goalkeeper Fabien Barthez at the Stade Velodrome on a permanent basis. The eccentric 'keeper has been a forgotten man since the arrival of American Tim Howard.

The eccentric World Cup winner, 32, has been a forgotten man since the arrival of American Tim Howard and Sir Alex Ferguson favours Roy Carroll as No.2 rather than Barthez. "We still want to keep him with us. He brings us stability and experience." confirmed Marseille manager Christophe Bouchet "But his case is a more serious problem than what people can believe." "Fabien and Manchester must know what they want to do," he continued. Barthez himself admitted that he loves Marseille and wishes to keep on playing for them. "Marseille are a special club for me. I really started out here. My wish was to play for Marseille." said the Frenchman in a recent interview. Barthez isn't the only goalkeeper from United to be loaned out of Old Trafford.
