United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has praised Louis Saha for his performance and winning goal, with the striker heading home United's second at St.Andrews on Saturday. The January signing has already netted 6 goals in the United jersey since his controversial move from Fulham.

Ferguson has praised January signing Louis Saha for his performance and
winning goal, as the Red Devils beat Birmingham City 2-1 at St.Andrews. Louis Saha late header completed a United comeback against the Midlands outfit, which was his sixth goal in eight United appearances since the controversial move to Old Trafford from Fulham during the transfer window. The goal could prove crucial to the club, with chances of automatic qualification for the European Cup still a distinct possibility. "Saha makes a great contribution because he is a threat all the time." said the Scotsman. "I thought that maybe he could have scored a couple more goals. He snatched at a couple of chances. "But it was a good comeback. When you are 1-0 down here, it is difficult given their enthusiasm and commitment." Sir Alex went on to praise his team for their resilient second-half display, after going in 1-0 at the break. United had struggled to settle in the opening 45 minutes, and European-hopefuls Birmingham looked likely to take all three points, but the visitors rose to the occasion in the second-half with an impressive and spirited showing. "They were the better side in the first half but the turnaround by us was good." added Ferguson. "We picked up the play in the second half and there was a lot more sharpness about our game. "We could have scored a few more. Once we had drawn level, we looked in a good position." |
