Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has told the BBC that he has been approached about Heskey; fanning the flames of the rumours that AC Milan and Boro are chasing him.
Liverpool's Emile Heskey has emerged as a transfer target for Middlesbrough and Italian giants AC Milan.
Gerard Houllier confirmed that clubs had enquired about the striker.
He refused to name the clubs - but it has been reported that Middlesborough and AC Milan are interested.
Houllier told the BBC: "It's true that some clubs have inquired about Emile Heskey, but there is nothing further to report than that."
AC Milan have refuted suggestions that they targeted Heskey, but this website can confirm they did approach Liverpool about making a bid.
Middlesbrough is a more likely destination, but boss Steve McClaren would have to offer about £6.5m to take him away from Anfield.
Boro' manager Steve McClaren is keen on Emile, but he would have to be at his most persuasive to agree a deal and then get the player to sign a contract with them
AC Milan are seeking a forward and made a move for
Heskey, but it is unlikely that deal will be pursued any further.
