Bristol City chasing Royals skipper

The 33 year old is out of contract at the end of the season and has been made available for free transfer, because the club does not wish to renegotiate contracts with players until the New Year.

However any move for the time being has been put on hold because of the hamstring injury Williams suffered in the 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town at the end of September.

Williams is rated 50/50 for Saturday's visit of Dario Gradi's Crewe Alexandra.

Speaking on the interest made by Bristol City, Williams said;

"I spoke with their Manager and Chairman and I was happy with the discussions, they are fair and honest people.

"They offered me a very good and I told them my aim is to get back fit and get into the Reading team.

"Everyone knows my objective is to get a contract here and the only way I can do that is by playing.

"My options are open and whether there is other interest remains to be seen.

"It's a big decision and what I want is to see Adie Williams playing for Reading."

Williams has also been linked with a move to fellow Championship side Sheffield United, however no contact has yet been made.
