Kitson major doubt for clash with Forest

KITSON DOUBT FOR FOREST

The former Cambridge United striker, who currently tops the goal scoring charts in the Championship has been struggling in recent weeks with a hamstring injury and has been playing through the pain barrier.

Steve Coppell already has Nicky Forster and Shaun Goater out and with neither player ready to return for at least 10 days, Coppell will be praying Kitson is ready for the Forest match.

Should Kitson not make the match, it's likely either Paul Brooker, Bobby Convey or Glen Little will get recalled to the side with Dean Morgan partnering Lloyd Owusu up front.

Little missed the 1-0 victory over Cardiff because of a recurrence of a hamstring injury. But having gone for a scan on Saturday, the scan has proved he should be ok for the match.

First team physio Jon Fearn told the official website;

"He's had a light jog on Tuesday afternoon and that's as much as we can get out of him right now.

"We'll progress with him as much as we can this week but if he can't sprint then he can't play.

"It's not a serious problem but the long standing calf problem means he is over-compensating on the other leg and has injured his hamstring.

He wants to play and the manager does but it can only go for so long before it needs to recover fully."

Royals Round Up

Director of Football Nick Hammond has rubbished claims that the Royals are tracking Brighton and Hove Albion striker Leon Knight.

The former Chelsea apprentice is out of contract at the end of the season and was linked with a move in yesterday's papers.

Hammond told the official website;

"We've had no contact whatsoever with Brighton over Leon Knight. There has been no enquiry from us."
