Trio made available for free transfer

COPPELL BEGINS CLEAROUT

The trio have failed to impress Coppell who looks set to go for a major summer clearout after a disappointing finish to the league season.

It's been a difficult week for Coppell who has been criticised by supporters after last Sunday's defeat to Wigan. Chairman John Madejski revealed to the official site earlier in the week how he revealed there would be an "inquest" into the league season that saw the good and the very bad of Reading FC. Coppell also faced the difficult task of releasing players who were out of contract. They included Les Ferdinand, Martin Keown and the unsung hero of 5 years, Mr Ricky Newman.

Brooker was a free transfer signing from Leicester City last summer and can play either on the right wing or on the left wing. But the former Fulham and Brighton player has struggled to get any real consistency into his game despite a good end of season finish.

Morgan was a free transfer signing from Phil Parkinson's Colchester United in November 2003 and can play as either a striker or a left winger. But Morgan has failed to take his chance after being given plenty of opportunities. He has managed just three goals since moving from the Essex club.

Owusu will feel a little disappointed that he is surplus to requirements. After joining the club on a free transfer last March, he has failed to get the goals to push for a regular starting place. The one thing said of Owusu is that his commitment has never been in question at the club.

All three contracts expire at the end of next season.
