Ryan brace secures cup progression

Lincoln City have reached the Lincolnshire Senior Cup final yet again after a Oliver Ryan brace gave the Imps a 2-0 victory over county rivals, Grimsby Town. The Imps were second best for most of the match as Grimsby's ginger winger ran the show for the Mariners, but some impressive goalkeeping from Duffy kept out the Mariners and "Ollie" scored two fantastic goals to send the Imps though.

The opening stages were quiet before Ryan scored as he shot home following a quick throw in on the left. That was City's only real attack in the opening stages as Grimsby went on to dominate.

Fortunately the Mariners failed to find the net and Oliver Ryan scored a stunning second. The striker, who has failed to score a first team goal despite being prolific in the reserves, volleyed a long ball goalwards from 25 yards and it sailed past Montgomery and into the net.

City will now face Scunthorpe in the final for the second season in a row, although when the final will actually be played is anyone's guess.
