Reaction to the Grimsby thrashing

So, here we are, my rant about the absolutely rubbish performance that City put in at Blundell Park on Saturday. I can't even begin to talk about how incredibly frustrated I am after this performance and how disillusioned I feel at the moment. The future isn't bright and it certainly isn't red and white.

I've wait until 24 hours after the match finished to talk about the match, hopefully I would calm down.....and I still find myself in the exact same state of anger and disillusionment that I was in when I left Blundell Park on Saturday afternoon. I can't even begin to put my finger on how bad we actually were for the majority of the match, then again, we're extremely poor for the majority of matches so it's not like it makes a huge difference.

It's getting to the point where I am actually seriously considering not going, this is after attending every competitive game (home and away) since August 12th 2005. I usually go into most games thinking that we could get something, but recently I've been going into the matches simply expecting us to lose by quite an embarrassing margin and I really don't want to have to do that.

In all fairness this result has been coming all season long. There are many teams we've faced who could have easily put four or five past us. Just look at the game against Accrington at home for example, the first half was the worst we've played all season and we should have been four down at half time due to them having a goal disallowed and two more cleared off of the line, the fact that we only played well for 22 minutes during that match makes everything think it was a one sided games.

Fair play to Grimsby though, their players were clearly up for the fight and were the only team who seemingly wanted to win the match yesterday. There was only one team out there yesterday that looked like they gave a crap, and it certainly wasn't Lincoln. It's the first time this season that I can say that I have been impressed with the opposition and I have no idea whatsoever that they will no survive and be facing us in League Two next season....when we fight our own relegation battle.

It still amazes me that there are some that believe we will still win promotion this season. I'm sorry, but those who are under that impression are well and truly deluded, so let me just put it clearly for you in simple to read text.....

Peter Jackson always said he would get City out of League Two as early as possible, he neglected to mention in which direction and if things don't change, we're going to be fighting relegation next season.

It just disappoints me that I could count on one hand how many players actually make an impact and play well consistently...even then I'm wasting fingers. Infact, it amazes me that players such as Sinclair are always the ones to blame, yet how many goals come from Sinclair mistakes? Virtually none, yet Kovacs, Beevers and Green are constantly screwing up when under pressure. It's the same upfront, Elding is a chaser of lost causes and gets slagged off for it, yet Horsfield has done nothing since coming to the club and yet he gets praised.

Then we get onto Oakes, there was an incident where he was effectively playing piggy-in-the-middle with three of Grimsby's players and tackling them before winning the ball....yet City fans call him lazy, makes you wonder.

However, let's try and think of some positives. O'Connor looked fairly decent and could easily walk into the squad on Tuesday night. However, other than him there was only Kerr that really impressed as he tried extremely hard against a team that almost signed him a few years back. Other than that I can't really praise anyone and quite frankly, I don't really want to do match ratings because I don't want to wear out the 1 and 2 buttons on my keyboard.

The comments about oakes, siclair, kerr, elding and o'conner spot on as well. Horsefield can @#$%& off excuse my language but is he even trying? Elding and patuea on tuesday day oakes does alot in the midfield without recognition because for all his errors jacko has brought 3 or 4 excellent players and oakes is 1 of them.

I can see why Oakes started on the left yesterday, he got more time on the ball and was able to pick his passes better out there. Its just a shame he lacks that pace to beat his man.

no questioning oakes ability.
maybe if brown ventured forward a bit more and overlapped oakes he may have been more effective, maybe.
n'guessan on left all day for me though, just leaves the right hand side a bit bare

One of the guys on the bus told Mike Thompson (from the trust) he should have stuck on his shirt and shorts yesterday. That would solve the right hand side problem Mighty!

couldnt agree more, i think that was one of pat's suggestions. and pat knows his stuff!
as for mike, i was appalled by his behaviour on the redimps travel. some kids were shouting on the back and prior to the trip he said he'd remove people shouting. he did not do this, perhaps he should get the managers job, he may well do better lol
