Details for the Match 3

With just over a week left before the Match 3 tournament, we are delighted to bring you details on the tournament, including fixture lists, rules and other issues. The tournament takes place on Saturday June 6th and with around 41 players expected to take part, it promises to be as competitive as always.

The Match 3 has been several months in the making and we finally have all the details sorted, barring the venue. The teams entering this year are Team Goob, NKSU, Damned United FC, Welton Imps, Skelly's Team (called that as Skelly has provided no details whatsoever regarding his team) and the remaining players will form "The Randoms". Each team will be able to choose their own kit colour, BUT, no-one is allowed to wear any City home kit due to potential kit clashes. Bring at least two shirts of different colours

The group stage will consist of all six teams playing each other. The matches will last ten minutes each. With the expected warm temperatures, I have tried to make sure no team plays more than three games in succession, but unfortunately one team has had to be put on for three successive games, well volunteered NKSU.

Kick off for the tournament is scheduled for 12:00 midday, so please arrive at about 11:45 so we can have everything sorted in time for the kick off. If your team is playing in the first game (fixtures below) and your team doesn't arrive by 12:00, therefore being late, your team automatically forfeits that game by a 2-0 scoreline, and goal difference does count. This will subsequently keep happening for every match that your team misses.

Also, I must remind you about the fees. Each team must pay £10 to play in the tournament (less than £2 per player if you have a full team), whereas anyone entering the "Randoms" team will pay £2 each. Due to being out of pocket in the first tournament because of quite a few people not paying, I will enforce this rule now, if you don't pay, you don't play, no exceptions.

RULES

1) Each match will last approximately 10 minutes and each team will have five matches.

2) A team will be allowed a maximum of two games in a row before they rest during the group stage.

3) Following the completion of the group stage, the top four teams go through to the semi finals.

4) 6 players start the game, including a goalkeeper. Any remaining players start as the sub, but that player must come on at some point during the game, giving them at least two minutes. That player can't then start as substitute again until every other player in that team has started on the bench at least once.

5) Games in the group stage will be self-refereed, although there will be a time-keeper and the game must finish at that point, the ONLY exception being if one of the teams has a penalty.

6) In the event of the ball going quite a distance from the pitch (i/e over a fence, to the other end of the Astroturf), the player who kicked it over MUST collect it. If that player refuses then he will be BANNED from playing the next match, if he then plays then the team forfeits that game 2-0, regardless of the score at the end of the game.

7) Unlike most 6-a-side Leagues, the goalkeepers are allowed to kick it out and you are allowed to kick it overhead height.

8) NO SLIDE TACKLING. ALL TACKLES MUST BE MADE WHILST STANDING UP. Theimps.tk takes no responsibility if you injure yourself, or someone else, whilst doing anything in this tournament deemed as irrational.

Fixtures

If you have an issue with your team's fixtures then let me know as soon as possible so I can amend the list. The deadline for contacting me regarding changes will be Thursday June 6th at 6:00pm.

Game 1 : Skelly's Team vs NKSU and Damned United vs Goob

Game 2 : Skelly's Team vs Welton and Randoms vs Goob

Game 3 : Damned United vs NSKU and Randoms vs Welton

Game 4 : NKSU vs Goob and Damned United vs Skelly

Game 5 : Randoms vs NKSU and Skelly's Team vs Goob

Game 6 : Damned United vs Welton and Randoms vs Skelly's Team

Game 7 : Randoms vs Damned and NKSU vs Welton

Game 8 : Goob vs Welton

Semi Final 1 - Winner of Group vs Fourth in Group

Semi Final 2 - Runner up in Group vs Second in Group

Third Place Playoff (if sufficient time) - Loser of Semi Final 1 vs Loser of Semi Final 2

Final - Winner of Semi Final 1 vs Winner of Semi Final 2

With regards to venue, I'm going to finalise details over the weekend and will let you all know as soon as possible. It is between North Kesteven and Yarborough at the moment. Ruston's is out of the question because it would cost too much.

Spectactors are welcome, hopefully most will take photographs to share with everyone.

Was on the phone to Dave from the Damned United team and he pointed out that I'd missed out two fixtures, meaning that I've amended the list.

Also, he requests any volunteers to join his team when their team aren't playing. I've tried to keep Randoms and Damned United apart as I am in goal for Randoms, but am happy to play out pitch for Damned United.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

No problem.

Just a quick one though guys. If you the kits clash then the team in their "home" kit will be decided by a toss of a coin.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

A few more rules.

1) The start of each match will basically consist of the ball being thrown up in the air by someone who is not playing for either team. That person must be as neutral with his throw and will then leave the pitch.

2) If a goal is scored then there will not be a kick off following it. The goalkeeper will instead take a goalkick, but all players from the opposition team must be in their own half.

3) In the event of a kit clash, the team wearing their first choice kit will be decided by the toss of a coin, again by someone who is on neither team.

4) No player other than the goalkeeper is allowed in the area. If a defender purposefully goes in there then a penalty will be awarded, if a striker goes in there on purpose, free kick. I'm sure you'll all use common sense to decide what's done on purpose....

5) There will be a five minute break between each match. This will allow players to catch a break, change kits and do whatever it is they want to do. There will be a ten minute break between the final group game and the first quarter finals.

However, two teams who are due to meet each other can volunteer to start their game straight away, but BOTH captains must be ok with this and let me know that this is happening.

6) In the event of a penalty shoot out in ANY match (be it final group game to decide who goes through, semi, third placed playoff or Final) then ALL the players who finished outfield must take a penalty, normal rules apply.

Just one or two requests as well.

Just to make sure we're not short, can a few people try and bring some balls with them? Although it's likely we won't need them.

Also, I am representing both Damned United and Randoms. However, I am primarily in the Randoms, meaning that I will only play for Damned when Randoms aren't play. They need one or two volunteers to play in the other matches for them.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

Not only that but he said to me via PM when I asked if he wanted any ramdons that he simply wasn't interested in anyone else being on his team tongue sticking out smiley.

Speaking of which, it looks like there's going to be 8 randoms, although two are semi-injured.

Fair enough, well it'll have to be players from another team as we've only just got enough for the goalkeeper, five outfield and a sub on the randoms and that includes two lads I'm bringing from Nottingham.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky
