Imps winless pre-season continues against Arsenal

Lincoln City's winless pre-season continued as, despite a spirited display, they surcome to an Arsenal XI side to make it three defeats and two draws from their five friendlies so far. However, it wasn't all bad news as Chris Fagan continued his decent form, bringing the Imps level at one point.

City's starting line up included trialists Hughton and Connor. Hughton is believed to be likely to be offered a contract whereas the future of Connor still remains in the balance as he has still failed to score during the trial. Arsenal's line up included no house-hold names, although there was a youngster called Tom Cruise on show.

Gilles Sanu gave Arsenal the lead just before half time on a counter attack. Jay Thomas hit the second with a low effort past Burch. However, Aaron Brown's free kick missed everyone and sailed in before Fagan hit a leveler from 25 yards. It appeared as though City would gain a respectable draw before Luke Ayling headed beyond Burch with less than a minute to go.

Despite defeat, this result can be viewed positively as this Arsenal team has thrashed opposition significantly better than us.

Not too bad and as they are friendlies the results mean nothing look at last seasons and we were declared the envy of Lge 2 but ended up the laughing stock after no homw win since last october.
That has to end against Barnet.

Biggest positive for me was Jamie Clark.

He beat their left back six times out of seven for speed.

And the crosses weren't bad, Just that we only ever had two players in the box to their six.

Good prospect.

Biggest negative - Connor and Fagan hardly having a kick, but not through want of trying.
