Only Lincoln Appearance : 2nd October 2010 - Southend United 1 Lincoln City 0

A respected goalkeeper in the lower divisions, Paul Musselwhite is a man that Imps fans are very familiar with after he had spells with Scunthorpe (twice) and Hull City. He was in goal during the numerous times that the Imps defeated Hull City at the beginning of this century, but did help both them and the Iron to promotion in consecutive years, let's hope that record stays with the Imps as well.

He started his long career at Portsmouth in 1986 but never made a first team appearance before joining Scunthorpe in 1988. 163 appearances in all competitions later and he was sold to Port Vale for £20,000, the only time during his career that he accumulated a fee.

He spent eight seasons at Vale Park and made over 350 appearances for the Valiants before making his way to Hull City. Four mainly midtable years later and he was on the bench as the Tigers won promotion just before he was released. He quickly joined Scunthorpe and was celebrating promotion with them twelve months later, making a positive contribution over his time there.

Spells at various non-League clubs followed before he joined Gateshead during 2008. It didn't take long for Musselwhite to be contacted by Peter Jackson and the veteran became the goalkeeping coach at Sincil Bank, joining permanently as back-up goalkeeper in the summer of 2009.

He made one appearance in his time at Lincoln, coming on as a substitute in a game at Southend United in October 2010. He left at the end of that season to take up a player/coach role at York City.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being born in 1968.

I can vouch for at least myself in that regard.

I can't, Cherry!!

As for Musselwhite, I thought he put in a very sound performance at Boston. I would much rather have him as No. 2 than either Duffy or Rayner!
