Same old spineless Imps lose yet again

If there's one thing that City fans have gotten used to over and over again over recent years, it's City playing pathetic at home. Yet again the Imps players barely broke into a sweat in another poor display, this time it was Shrewsbury who were laughing all the way home after collecting three points from a win.

Howe had a header cleared in the first minute but that was as good as it got for City for a long time as David Hibbert and Jake Robinson both had long range efforts that were easily held by Burch. Robinson again forced Burch into a brilliant save from a hard drive in the 13^th minute before Richard Butcher actually did something positive when he swept away a cross into the box.

Shrewsbury continued to be the better side by an absolute mile before Lenell John-Lewis actually gave a crap for a change and shot just over from 12 yards out following a tussle with a defender. That was about as good as it got for City though and Shrewsbury deservedly took the lead in the 28^th minute when Jake Robinson, a former City start, slotted home when the defence allowed two crosses to come into the box, the second put away by Robinson.

Howe shot wide for the Imps but that was the final chance in a first half that was controlled by the visitors.

Shrewsbury continued to press early in the second half with a few decent shots. McIntyre was booked for a late challenge on Torres and the resultant free kick was hit wide by Brown. Scott Kerr was booked for a foul on Scott Kerr, a challenge that resulted in virtually every player running into the fracas.

Then, following on from his strange decision to bring on Hutchinson and play him at last back last week, Simon Clark decided to bring on Jamie Clarke on place for Torres, one of the few players who actually looked half decent. Scott Kerr took too long  to shoot following a scramble in the box and LJL missed an open goal a minute later.

Neal replaced Simpson for the visitors just minutes before Stefan Oakes replaced the awful Butcher. Within minutes though and Swaibu had given away a penalty. The ball floated into the box and Swaibu jumped up, missed it and it hit his arm, the referee had no hesitation in blowing for the spot. It was slotted away by Dave Hibbert.

That was pretty much the last chance as this spineless City squad lost yet again.
