Chris Sutton's first permanent signing has arrived after finally gaining international clearance. Khano Smith had been on trial at the club since Simon Clark took over from Peter Jackson on a caretaker basis, and did enough to earn a contract until the New Year.
Bermudian Smith has played at the highest level in the American Soccer (god I hate that word) League, so is used to a level that is similar to League Two. He represented New England Revolution and the New York Red Bulls in the ASL, scoring 8 goals in 93 appearances.
After being released by the New York Red Bulls, Smith tried his luck in England and has trials at Southend United before joining the Imps.
A Bermudian international, his home country have ever lost, or even conceded when he had scored, winning 4-0 against the Bahamas and results of 7-0 and 13-0 over Montserrat, both in the qualification for the 2006 World Cup.
Smith will go into the side to face Torquay tomorrow.
