Schofield still in charge for Saturday?

John Schofield appears set to make his first matchday appearance at Sincil Bank since being sacked as manager back in October 2007. Currently at Cheltenham, Schofield was placed in charge after Martin Allen was placed on gardening leave for alledged racism.

Schofield had joined Scunthorpe's coaching staff after leaving City back in 2007, but joined Cheltenham Town on an initial expenses only style deal after Martin Allen became the new manager at Whaddon Road. He was eventually offered a full contract and despite being relegated at the end of the season, the team of Allen and Schofield should have worked as this level.

After a bad start, it was revealed that Martin Allen had been placed on gardening leave, but only because of an incident in Cheltenham town centre, alledgely shouting racist abuse at a bouncer. Despite being cleared of this, Cheltenham are still keeping him on gardening leave and Schofield now seems certain to be on the Robins' bench for Saturday.

Says Allen has been cleared on BBC football.

Yep, but Cheltenham are still keeping him on gardening leave due to an internal enquiry.

Cheltenham have also stated that a decision will be made by the weekend regarding Allen's GL.

I think they are trying to get rid of him on the cheap for me.
