Reaction to the Chesterfield game

A well earned victory at Sincil Bank has eased the pressure on City and now it appears that a tour of the Blue Square Premier next season isn't the formality it seemed. Hughton and Facey gave City the lead before the visitors almost undeservedly gained a point.
Most Imps fans would agree that Chesterfield are the worst sides to come to Sincil Bank this season, or for a long time for that matter. It's not often that we seen a side down Sincil Bank (other than City) that seemingly have a tactics book that could fit onto a post-it note. If they'd have equalised then it would have been one of the most undeserved points that would have been gained by a visiting side in several years. However, that's the last reality check that I'm going to give Chesterfield fans after reading their forum indicates that they should have won at a canter.
This was one of the most comfortable home games we've had in a while (barring a two-three spell where Chesterfield actually looked dangerous) and I can't pick fault with any City player's performance. It was a day of rarities, not only did Hughton and Facey get their first goals, not only did our midfield create chances, but even Stefan Oakes completed 90 minutes, probably the first time that's happened since August last year.
It made a refreshing change for us not to sit back on our lead and try and get more goals, and that was my main complaint about the Rochdale game. Against Rochdale we took the lead but then had no attacking intention whatsoever and deservedly lost. That's been my main gripe about Lincoln all season long, at least under Sutton. The amount of times we have one into games just defending for 90 minutes and hoping for a goal on the break was just ridiculous.
The win today was absolutely massive, not only because it's three points, but it was our game in hand over Grimsby due to their game being called off, meaning we couldn't afford to miss an opportunity to go five points clear of them. You'd also fancy our chances of winning at Darlington on Monday and if Grimsby lose at home to Port Vale then we're all of a sudden eight points clear. Not to forget to take into account they play a League game next weekend when we go to Bolton.
In all fairness, I don't have any real negatives to talk about. We beat the team who were 5th at the beginning of the day and on paper should have easily beaten us. We've won for the first time since October 10th and now our season has viciously turned around and we might actually survive now. I can't even moan about Nathan Baker as he didn't aimlessly punt it today.

Watts, Green, Herd, Hughton and Facey played well.
Kerr, Baker were average.
I thought Burch had one of his poorer games and that Heath was a liabilty.
We still need a goalscorer and a mobile 'Animal' in midfield.
If Sutton's looking to bring players in, can he get better than what we have out injured Conner, Torres and Pulis and at what cost.

Burch may not have had his best game overall but he still earnt us those extra 2 points. He completely got to Jack Lester before the spot kick was taken. Worse pen I have seen since Percy Freeman stuck one in the Trent.
I saw him slip a couple of times in the goal mouth,pitch may have been a bit slippery, but wasnt a bad performance (although im biased lol)... he really had a go a Lester, told him he was gonna put it wide & really psyched him out!!! the guy is a legend lol
