Defender : Richard Hinds

The experienced Richard Hinds became David Holdsworth's first permanent signing when he joined in November 2011. Hinds spent most of his career in League One or above and his signing could be deemed as something of a coup for the Imps. He has helped clubs to four promotions during his career.

Signed From : Free transfer

Debut : Lincoln City 2 Barrow 1 - 5th November 2011

Richard HindsHinds was reasonably well known to the Imps having played for three clubs within an hour's drive of Sincil Bank.

He started his career at Tranmere Rovers, playing at Prenton Park from 1998 to 2003 before a transfer to Hull City. Whilst there he helped the regular midtable dwellers to their first promotion in 19 years in 2003/4. He remained at the club for the following season but only played a bit-part during their second successive promotion in 2004/5.

Towards the end of that season he signed for Scunthorpe United and they gained promotion during that spell. Scunthorpe didn't waste the chance to sign him permanently and he was celebrating helping the Iron win League One in 2006/7.

He was offered new contract but turned it down to sign for Sheffield Wednesday, the team he had supported as a child.

Struggling to hold down a first team after fracturing his leg in 2008/9 and would only make 67 over four years at Hillsborough. He was released at the end of his contract.

When David Holdsworth was appointed manager of the Imps, the defence was a shambles and following a 2-1 home defeat at Alfreton in the FA Cup, he swooped for Hinds, who still hadn't found a new club despite being linked with Tranmere and Yeovil Town.

Hinds made his debut in a 2-1 win over Barrow and won plaudits for his assured display.

He will be with the Imps until the end of the 2011/12 season.

He can't do anything wrong to be honest. Replacing Watts isn't a difficult task.

Got a feeling he will do ok for us.

Already prefer the changing look of Lincoln since Tilsons lonnnnnng overdue sacking.
