Imps finances are "the best since relegation"

Imps Chairman Bob Dorrian has said that the finances at Sincil Bank are the best they have been since the club was relegated to the non-league two years ago, this coming on the same day that it was confirmed that the CEO, Steve Prescott, had been made redundant.
Dorrian is about to enter his fourth season as Lincoln City's chairman, a period that has seen the Imps relegated to the Conference and then almost relegated to the Conference North on two occassions. Numerous members of staff have been made redundent in that period and the budget is amongst the lowest that the club has ever given a manager.
Today's announcement confirming that Steve Prescott, the CEO, had been made redundant was however followed by news that the club's finances are actually the best they have been since the club suffered relegation two seasons ago.
"We are in a better financial position than we have been in for probably two years," Dorrian (right) told the BBC. It is not to say that it is great because it is not. I cannot speak highly enough of Steve's contribution but the decision was reached because we are always looking to save money and cut costs, but we have bottomed out all the costs in the club."
The club has certainly had to work hard to make sure that the club didn't follow the likes of Halifax, Rushden and Chester in going bust after being relegated from the Football League,
The Imps have had to deal with redundancies and cost-cutting since they dropped out of the Football League. When David Holdsworth was appointed he was told that he had two jobs, to make sure the clu didn't go down and to reduce the outgoings in terms of the playing squad, both of which were achieved.
Dorrian added: "We have felt for a while that the CEO's job is something that may be able to embraced by a combination of directors and existing staff. We felt we could do the job between us and it was not a difficult decision for the board to make."
