Vadaine left for Crewe but Tomlinson not feeling pressure

New arrival Ben Tomlinson has said that he is not feeling any pressure at all to fill the void left by strike force Jamie Taylor and Crewe in the summer, a partnership that scored 29 goals between them last season.

Tomlinson, a recent arrival from Alfreton Town, started the game against Woking, that despite having considerably less time on the pitch in pre-season due to his late arrival. Speaking to the local media, he stated that he didn't feel that he had got going yet.

“I got to look at the season and think right ‘I’ve come here to score goals’. Hopefully I can get out there and show the fans that’s what I’m all about,” Tomlinson told the Lincolnshire Echo. "It’s also about proving to Gary Simpson and my team mates that scoring goals is what I’m all about, and helping the team progress. Personally, I don’t think I’m up to 100 per cent standards. I think I’ve got a couple of gears to go up yet. Once I’m up there I hope to show what I’m all about."

With the competition wide open for a starting place up front, with Tomlinson, Nick Wright, Danny Rowe, Waide Fairhurst, Adi Yussuf and Conner Robinson all trying to secure a place up front, Tomlinson needs to hit the ground running, but despite that and filling the boots of two departed goal scorers, Tomlinson is relaxed about the situation.

“However, I’m not worried about having pressure on me to get goals, that’s what I done throughout my career. I’ve got to score goals and I’ve never thought about who was here before me. I’m not feeling the pressure, I think it will be fine. I’m comfortable in front of goal and I hope to be so throughout my career.”
