Richardson out to bite hand that fed him

Imps striker Marcus Richardson, returns to his old club, Hartlepool on Saturday and is determined to build on his last minute goal on Saturday and with injuries to Green and Carruthurs, he will almost certainly start on Saturday.

Richardson initially joined the Imps last season on a months loan and did enough to convince Keith Alexander to keep him for longer. He was then recalled by Hartlepool before Gary Simpson, in temporary charge whilst Keith was ill, got him in again on loan and then signing him permanently.

Richardson hasn't really featured so far this season because of an injury sustained after scoring against Watford in a pre-season friendly. He has infact, only played a total of about 20 minutes so far this season. The first 10 of those were in the game against Chester where he got sent off and the last 10 came in Saturday's win over Northampton.

"It's just nice to back in the side, and the goal on Saturday was the icing on the cake," said Richardson.

"It was my kind of range - what you would call a predator's goal! I was worried it was offside because I thought I was ahead of Ben Futcher.

"That would have been just my luck if it had been disallowed. But fortunately it wasn't and it was a big relief."

Richardson also told the Echo that whilst he didn't particully enjoy sitting out at Hartlepool, he had special memories of the place he would swap for anything.

Richardson spent 15 months with Hartlepool and scored eight goals as they were promoted to League One in 2003. And he admits his time in the north-east holds special memories.

"Experiencing promotion is something which might not happen to me again - although I hope I get the opportunity with Lincoln City," said the Reading-born striker.

"I enjoyed my time with Hartlepool and it will be nice to see some old friends on Saturday. Hopefully I will get a decent welcome, but I'm a City player now and I'll be doing all I can to win."
