History putting Shrimps off

Southend United have sold just over 5000 tickets for the playoff final against the Imps on Saturday. After 2 defeats in 12 months at the Millenium Stadium, most of the 20,000 that turned up for March's LDV Vans Final are put off after seeing their team lose 2-0 twice.

If they sell less than 6,000, Southend will become the first team in history to take less fans than their average attendance to a playoff final (the only exception are those who have been given less tickets than their average attendance).

In the last 12 months, Southend have reached 2 LDV Vans Finals and took nearly 20,000 both times but after losing both games 2-0, to Bristol City and Wrexham respectively, a lot of fans appear to have been put off going for a 3rd trip even though this game is more important than their previous 2 visits.

City's ticket sales on the other hand are believed to be roughly between 12,000 and 14,000 with 2 days of sales left to go.
