Imps midfielder, Richard Butcher has rejected the Imps offer of a new contract and today agreed a contract with League 1 side, Oldham Athletic. The midfielder will become the 3rd first team regular in 4 days to leave via one method or another.

Butcher follows fellow first team regulars, Simon Yeo and Gary Taylor-Fletcher through the exit door. Butcher joined the Imps from Kettering at the end of 2002 and scored him first goal weeks later against Shrewsbury Town and has impressed throughout his 2 and a half years with the Imps.

2003/4 will go down as a memorable season for the midfielder as he scored a faired amount of goals for the Imps before getting injury. One of those goals will live long in the memory of many Lincoln fans, a mammoth 35 yard effort against Mansfield Town just before Christmas in 2003. That was just one of many stunning goals that season.

In 2004/5, his goalscoring went considerable down, scoring only twice although on the plus side, he did set up many goals for others and was the only player to be an ever present, he didn't miss a single minute of action during the entire season.

Theimps.tk wishes Richard the best of luck in the future and hopes he goes onto success with Oldham.
