Bristol City have McCombe bid accepted

League One side Bristol City have announced they have had a transfer bid accepted by Lincoln City for defender, Jamie McCombe. The defender who is also being targeted by Crewe Alexandra looks set to leave Sincil Bank after the departure of Keith Alexander and looks to be the first of an exodus.

Yesterday, it was announced that Crewe Alexandra had met a £5,000 clause that allowed them to talk to McCombe and it is believed that Bristol Rovers have not only already met that £5,000, but have also already had an official bid, believed to be a high five-figured transfer bid accepted by the Imps. McCombe won the official Lincoln City "Player of the Season" and "Away Player of the Season" awards before the finl home game of the regular season and was firm favourite with the Imps' crowd.

A statement on Bristol City's official website reads : "Before Gary (Johnson) went on holiday, he put in a bid for Jamie McCombe and we have now recieved official confirmation from Lincoln that the offer is acceptable".

This will come as disappointing news for the Imps and despite being offered a new contract by the Imps, it is highly unlikely that McCombe will reject contracts from both clubs who play in a higher level than the Imps.
